Last Day of #JanYOUary with Before/After Pics

It’s a beautiful, rainy morning here in Lubbock, Texas, today.  I should be grabbing my running shoes and my road companion to go out for a jog in it!  The only problem with that is, my running companion gets ear infections when he gets water in his ears.  😦

Jan 30, 2015

I went to the gym last night after my boyfriend brought me home some pad Thai for dinner… mmm, a big yummy bowl of carbs!  The thought was nice, but I don’t think he gets my goal and how I’m getting there.  So, like the polite Southern girl that I am, I ate enough of that pad Thai to get by with, and hauled my butt-in-progress to the gym!

And at the gym, I worked my butt off!  I ran 2 miles straight (5mph) on the treadmill to start with.  Then I went over to do some squats and lunges with a weight ball (the ones with handles on the side) with a few other Pilates type leg exercises.  It turned into a 2nd leg day, basically, which is good since the leg muscles are the biggest muscles in your body and burn the most calories, right?  I also did a bunch of abs, mostly lower abs.  I worked the heck out of my abs!!

Aside from the pad Thai for dinner, I did fairly good yesterday on food, too.  I had this Western style omelet for breakfast, with a side of fruit instead of hash browns.  I didn’t end up eating the whole wheat toast.  Or the weird blueberry cream stuff that came on top of my fruit. I drank coffee with no-calorie sweetener and some cream.

For lunch I made a quick run to Subway and got a flat bread sandwich, and didn’t eat the baked Lays potato chips that came with it.  Still drinking lots of water!

Today… is the last day of the #JanYOUary workout calendar and yesterday was the last of #30DayFlatAbs.  That means we’ll be getting a brand new calendar, #FABruary, sometime today!  We are also getting a new 30 day calendar to tone up the booty – the #30DayButtLift Challenge!  Oh my gosh, I’m so excited about this!

So today is the last Fat Burn Focus workout.  Cardio, cardio, cardio.  I usually just do my own cardio instead of the cardio videos, so I’ll probably do the same and head to the gym again today.

Before and After

before-after 1-31-15So here’s my next Before/After for this year!  It looks like #JanYOUary and #30DayFlatAbs was overall a pretty good success for me!  (Just ignore the fact that I just got out of bed and haven’t showered yet today.  I know, I look a little rough!)

before-after 1-31-15 sideI can see a lot of difference in my stomach, which is my biggest area in need of progress.

The scale?  Well, I actually gained weight since my last Before/After photo on 1/9/15, but my body fat percentage has gone down, and obviously you can see some toning up going on.  The scale is not always the best indicator of progress!!!

Today’s weight: 151.4 lbs

Body Fat Percentage: 32.5 %

Just Run With It

Run TimeHey guys!  I just got home from a nice run around my neighborhood.  The weather has been amazing the past few days this week, so I’ve been taking advantage of it and getting out for some sunshine while jogging the dogs.

How has the week been going so far?  It’s already half way over.  This week, it’s still been busy as usual.  I got in some gym time on Monday evening.  I had already done my running at home with Rogue, so I did a little bit of time on the elliptical machine that day instead of the treadmill like usual.  It felt like a pretty good workout, actually… that is, until I lowered the incline all the way down to a 1 and completely broke the machine.  I’m not even kidding.  The tracks went completely crazy with some plastic piece in the middle going kind of sideways, and that was the end of that.  Laugh out loud!  Then I headed over to get in my Pilates and lifted some weights for a great arm workout on Monday.  My arms are still a bit sore!

Yesterday, the only workout I got was running with Rogue around the neighborhood again, since I had to supervise another Skype visit with my nephew and his mother.  It was a great run, though.

But today, it’s Lean Legs day and I’ll be working on these videos as soon as I put my nephew to bed for the night.

The last thing I want to say for today is… how are not all Greek Yogurts created equally?  When I shop at my regular grocery store close to my house, I always get the Greek Gods brand of Greek yogurt.  It’s so good, tasty, and creamy.  Well, this morning, I stopped at a different store close to where I work so that I could get some fruit to re-stock my fruit bowl at work, and I meandered over to the dairy department to grab a Greek yogurt for breakfast, since I’d forgotten to bring one from home today.  Well, this store didn’t have Greek Gods brand.  So, I looked around and found Chobani had a vanilla flavored Greek yogurt.  Bingo!  Right?

Chobani yogurt did not taste nearly as good as Greek Gods.  I couldn’t eat it.  I ended up throwing it away after about 3 or 4 bites.  Then my boss, after hearing me complain about how terrible the Chobani yogurt was, went down to the break room and got his Noosa Greek yogurt he had placed in the refrigerator earlier this week, and he had me try that one.  Even though it was a fruit flavor, raspberry (I am not a big fan of fruit-flavored yogurt), it was still pretty good.  I’d eat it again, and I’d definitely eat that one over Chobani for sure!!

Greek Gods yogurt

Greek Gods Greek Yogurt – very good! My favorite.

Chobani Yogurt

Chobani Greek Yogurt – not good at all 😦

Where Does the Time Go?

Is it seriously already Thursday evening?  I can’t believe it.  I haven’t posted anything this week at all!  It’s been pretty crazy this week, especially at work.  I’ve been doing a lot of running on the treadmill this week, though, and getting my workouts done.  I think I went to bed at about 8:00 a.m. last night.  I’m not even kidding.  I’ve been a little bit under the weather with a cough, too.  I figure if I run a lot I can sweat it all out and get well sooner.

I won’t post all the workouts for this week since it’s already almost over.  I’ll just do today’s for now and link to the other ones.

Sunday Butt Lift

Monday Muffintop Melt

Tuesday Luscious Legs

Wednesday Rock Your Core

calendar 10-23Today it’s Amazing Arms.  Push Plank Challenge is always a good one, and Sexy Broom  Burn is fun.  My broom is the exact same broom as the one Cassey uses in the video, which is kind of funny, I think.  Angel Arms workout is always a good one with the weights.

Tomorrow will probably be another busy day at work.  I’m definitely looking forward to Saturday when I’ll have some time to relax and do whatever I want, since it’s not one of the weekends I have to drive my nephew to Fort Worth.  Of course I’ll have to get chores done, but I fully intend to just take some time to enjoy myself for a change.

My question to end my post today is this:  What are some home remedies that you use to get rid of a cough?

I’m taking Mucinex DM, drinking lots of fluids, I tried using a humidifier…  So far, it’s just sticking around anyway.  It started with allergies.  Help?

Getting Ready for the Week

calendar 10-(12-18)

Hey guys, I’m working on getting my workout playlists ready for this upcoming week and it looks like a really good week ahead of us!  What a great calendar this #ROCKtober calendar has been so far.  I’ve been really happy with each of the days’ workouts, even on the days I haven’t taken the time to post about them.  I thought for this week, since I’ve been really terrible about posting every day like I like to do, I’ll go ahead and post all the playlists for this week, and then on days I have time to post I will add something extra.  If not, at least they’re here.

Butt Lift Sunday Workout:

On today’s workout, which I’m about to do as soon as I’m done typing up this post, we only have 4 videos to complete.  I’m not sure which of these I’m looking forward to the most or which one is usually the toughest for me to complete.  I guess we’ll see how I feel after I’m done today!

Muffintop Melt Monday Workout:

I love, love, love the 4 Minutes to a Hot Body workout… and I also love all the love-handle workouts.  Monday will be a fun-day workout for me!  Especially the Muffintop Massacre.

Luscious Legs Tuesday Workout:

Tuesday is leg day this month, and doing the 100 Burpee Burnout for the cardio video to start it out is perfect.  Burpees have seriously sculpted and trimmed down my legs.  I need to be doing a lot more of them!  The Sculpted Legs in Skinny Leggings workout is pretty fun, too.

Rock Your Core Wednesday Workout:

The Summer Sweatfest workout kills me!  Every. Single. Time.  I don’t know why it’s so tough for me to do, and you’d think it would get easier after a while, but nope.  HIIT at its finest, right there!  And by the way, I’d tell you which other video for this day I’m looking most forward to, but I’d just list every one of them and it would be pointless.  Needless to say, I’m excited for Wednesday’s workout this week!

Amazing Arms Thursday Workout:

I probably shouldn’t say this, but the shoes Cassey is wearing in the Fat Burning Cardio Warmup, I think they’re really ugly.  😦  I don’t know why I just do not like the wedge heeled sneakers look.  I also don’t like Uggs, and we’re fast approaching that time of year that everyone starts wearing them again.  I really hope those are so 3 years ago this year and we don’t see them too much… but I digress.

I’m looking forward to the Tonefest Towel Workout for Thursday, mostly because we don’t see it on the workout calendars very often, so it’s sort of a refresher.

Recovery Day Friday:

Yep, I’m not going to lie.  Doing a headstand is just not one of my fitness goals.  I think it’s great that other people can do them, but I really have no desire to do this.  I’ll probably do this week’s new video instead, 9 Steps to Doing the Splits.  Increasing my flexibility is something I’d like to work on.

Rock Your Core Saturday Workout:

So we have not just one, but two cardio videos for Saturday’s workout this week!  Way to get that fat burning.  🙂  And bonus, we get Miley Cyrus Abs!  This should be a fun one.

Let me know how you’re doing on this month’s calendar.  Are you keeping up with them?  Are you taking your before/after photos each week?  I haven’t been, and I need to, because I lost some of my progress last month and I know I’m getting it back!

Abs and Villain Costumes

Rock Your Core Wednesday Workout:

calendar 10-8Great workout today!  I’ve been running a mile before my workouts every day so that I’ll see faster results this month.  I’ve been feeling pretty good this month, too.  This month’s calendar is really good so far!

Today we had abs, abs, and more abs.  I substituted the Whoa Whoa workout for this week’s new video, 10 Minute Abs, which I really liked because it had lots of new moves we haven’t already done a million times already.  Keeping it fresh, for me, means I don’t get tired of it.  🙂  Plus, there’s just something about Whoa Whoa workout that I cannot keep up with.  I don’t know why.

Harley QuinnEvery year at my work, we coordinate a Trunk or Treat for the kids we work with.  This year, my unit was paired up with another unit of people we don’t know who work in a different building and do completely different jobs from what we do, and the other unit chose the theme of Villains for our “Trunk” station.  We’re all going to dress up like villains.

My villain… Harley Quinn.  Not quite so skanky-version, of course, as this is my job and is for the enjoyment and entertainment of little children, and all.

I got my costume items from Amazon, so I’ll basically just be a cheesy pieced-together version of Harley Quinn.

Now I’m sad I didn’t choose Maleficent or Lord Voldemort, but this one will do.  And bonus!  I have a HUGE motivation to stick to my workouts hard core this month, because I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to lose some of my stomach pudge before I have to wear my costume on 10/31.  🙂

What are you going as for Halloween this year?  Any ideas or do you already know?  Anything at all?

Sunday 2 for 1 and Blogilates Total Bodylicious Workout

I have 2 workouts to do today.  First up is yesterday’s playlist…

Rock Your Core Saturday Workout:

calendar 10-4I wasn’t able to do this workout yesterday when I was supposed to because of a trip to Fort Worth for my nephew to visit my brother.  I had to get some things done earlier in the day before we left, and then we spent the afternoon driving.  I was sad I missed the workout yesterday, since I made it a goal to do more workouts (and blog posts) this month than I did in September.

So instead, I did this workout today while my nephew was napping, plus I ran a mile before hand.  It felt pretty good.  That was before dinner tonight.  To be honest, I felt like yesterday’s Rock Your Core workout was a little underwhelming after Wednesday’s killer workout.  My abs were sore for a couple days after Wednesday!  But it was still a good workout, though.  It just didn’t zero in on the abs as much as I had hoped.  🙂

Butt Lift Sunday Workout:

calendar 10-5Now that I’ve eaten my dinner (baked pork ribs, beans, and salad), it’s time to do today’s workout.  Today should be a good one, too.  Especially with Hips Butt N Thighs and the Beach Ready Butt workouts.  Those are both killer!

As you can see, there’s another secret workout video on today’s playlist that you can’t find on YouTube… this is one that you have to subscribe to the Blogilates app monthly calendar to be able to get.

Blogilates October Exclusive Video: Total Bodylicious Workout

Blogilates October Exclusive Video: Total Bodylicious Workout

If you just can’t splurge that whole whopping $0.99 a month for the calendar subscription in the app to get the Total Bodylicious Workout, I’d recommend subbing the Perfect Legs workout for it, since there are several similar moves.  😉

Is everyone ready for the week?  Oh, I have to go transfer some laundry loads!!  Before I forget again.  TTFN 🙂

My Core Has Been Rocked

Rock Your Core Wednesday Workout:

calendar 10-1She wasn’t kidding when she said this workout would “Rock Your Core.”  I just finished today’s workout, and I don’t think I could do another double-leg-lift if I tried.  Is it just me, or does it seem like Cassey really loves those double leg lifts?  They’re definitely a good, effective move.  I tend to do those a lot when I’m laying around in front of the TV.  Those and bridge pulses, which I’m sure looks totally normal should anyone happen to walk in the room while this goes on.  🙂

How did everyone else fare on our first day of #ROCKtober workouts?  That 5 minute fat burner at the beginning of the workout was definitely a good way to kick it off.  I was working pretty hard to catch my breath in some parts of it.

I really like the simplicity of the Quick Ab Workout.  It’s only 2 moves in about 3 minutes, but I really feel like it zeroes right in to some good spots we could all use a little work on.

Do you have a favorite video for today?  Least favorite?  I really like all of these today.  Especially Extreme Abs.

oGorgeous Order:

I’ve been thinking about getting some new Blogilates gear to wear to work out in.  So, since I got paid today, I thought I’d head over to the oGorgeous Gym Boutique and see what new goodies I could find that I couldn’t live without.  I found a couple things that I think I’m going to order tonight, unless I talk myself out of it.

I Am Beast in White Cheetah

beast shorts

Side Scrunch Booty in Highlighter

What do you think?  Should I get them?

contour jacket cobaltIf I had the money, I’d really like to have the Bodypop Contour Jacket in Cobalt… but alas, I just can’t justify dropping the $90 on it.  We social workers have to make due with our meager wages, after all.  🙂

First Look at the Blogilates #ROCKtober Calendar

10-2014 RocktoberThe new Blogilates workout calendar is here, and talk about exciting!  This is going to be a great month of workouts!!  This month, each day’s workout starts off with a video that incorporates some type of cardio to get the fat burning right from the start.

(Side-note: I still haven’t gotten my password to the calendar through the newsletter email yet, but I was able to access it via SnapChat app, for anyone else who is still waiting and is as impatient as I am.)

This month’s line-up is:

Sunday – Butt Lift

Monday – Muffintop Melt (with new workout video weekly)

Tuesday – Luscious Legs

Wednesday – Rock Your Core

Thursday – Amazing Arms (with new #CheapCleanEats video weekly)

Friday – Recovery Day

Saturday – Rock Your Core

I have to say I am crazy excited about this month’s calendar.  Last month was a good one, but I definitely found myself slacking off a lot, especially around the 2nd and 3rd weeks, after my nephew got here and threw a big kink in my normal routine.  This past week I’ve really been getting back to being more consistent (except for the blogging part – sorry about that!) and I just feel so much better when I do the workouts every day.  It’s a huge difference in my energy and my mood, as well as how my body feels from the inside out.

Legs & Butt Tuesday Workout:

9-30But for now, it’s time to get our last #SepTONEber workout in and kill those legs, butt, and thighs!  Who doesn’t love a lifted booty and some nice toned legs, right?

For this new month, it’s my goal to blog a lot more than I did in September.  I’m going to make more time to keep at it, because I love blogging, and it definitely keeps me motivated to keep at it.

What keeps you motivated?

Happy Tuesday!!

Ab Killers and Birthday Cupcakes

Abtacular Monday Workout:

9-22 calendarWhew, what a workout today!  My abs and obliques were super-sore today from yesterday’s workout, so needless to say, I really felt today’s Abtacular workout.  I especially liked the Extreme Abs and Abs on Fire today.  In Extreme Abs, at about 3:07 into the video where we move from legs straight up to lowering them out diagonally and doing a million crunches in various ways… oh… my… goodness.

There’s only one thing I have to ask, though.  Where was today’s new workout video?  I didn’t see a new one today, and I didn’t see a post on Facebook from Cassey saying there wouldn’t be a new one today for whatever reason.  Did I miss it??

Extreme Abs

Blogilates: Extreme Abs

Birthday Cake:

Today is my boyfriend’s birthday, so of course what kind of girlfriend would I be if I didn’t make him birthday cake?  We made a really good cake for Valentine’s Day this year that was so good, we actually ended up eating almost the entire cake before we had to throw it away like usually happens after a few days.  So I figured that would be a good choice to make for him today.  It’s a chocolate cake with cherry flavored frosting on it.  I did pretty good, though.  Instead of baking it as a cake, I baked it as little tiny mini muffin cupcakes!  I gave one to my little nephew before I brushed his teeth and put him to bed tonight, and he didn’t even think twice about it.  He popped the entire thing in his mouth all at once!  It definitely helped on portion control for me, though.

And after I ate my little birthday cupcake, I did today’s workout.  Now I feel pretty good and I’m way beyond ready for bed.  So, until tomorrow!

#Blogilates Get It Right, Get It Tight Workout

Total Body Tone Sunday Workout:

9-21 calendarOk guys, I’m about to do this workout today.  It’s been a looooong day, but before I officially turn in for the night, I’m doing every single one of these videos all the way through.  Why?  Because I need every last one of them.  Probably twice.

The first video on the playlist is this month’s exclusive workout video that you can only access through the calendar subscription in the Blogilates app.  (It’s only $0.99 a month, which for me is totally worth it.)

My LONG Day:

Today, I got up at 6:00 a.m., got myself and my nephew ready, and drove us over 4 hours to visit my brother for a little over 2 hours.  Then I packed us back up in the car and drove us back home, another 4+ hours.  What does this mean?  It means I’m so tired right now, I just want to lay down in my bed and call it a day.

But instead, I’m going to blog and then do my workout.  Then lay down in my bed and call it a day.  Tomorrow my nephew starts his first day of daycare, so I’ll have to get us both up early again tomorrow.  Thank goodness it’s still fairly early in the evening.

How is everyone doing this month on their workouts?  How are you all liking the September calendar?  I’ve really been liking the new #cheapcleaneats videos coming back.
