Cold Cold Thursday – Blogilates #MOVEmber Calendar

wpid-nov-2014-fully-edited.jpgHow did yesterday’s Ab Mania go for everyone? I did my workout at the gym yesterday and it felt pretty good. I started off with 20 minutes of interval training on the treadmill. I added a little bit of free weights on my arms and back before I did my mat workout.

Did I mention it was super cold yesterday?  It didn’t get above freezing at all where I live the whole day, so by night-fall it was all I could do to make myself get back out to head to the gym.  But you know what?  I just sucked it up and went because I’m investing in myself and my goals.  I can’t afford to have the attitude of “I can do it later.”

It’s another freezing cold day today.  I made sure to wear some insulation today with my insulated leggings underneath my dress pants.  I’m also wearing a hand-made crochet beanie and a scarf.

 

It’s been a couple years since I’ve been able to wear this red sweater, too. How exciting is that?!  🙂

Did you know that your body burns more calories when you’re cold?  Especially when you’re cold enough to the point of shivering.  Your metabolic processes have to work harder to regulate your temperature to warm you up and to warm the air that you’re inhaling into your lungs.  It’s only a minimal amount of extra calories, but it might explain why I’m so much more hungry in the cold weather than I am in warmer climate!
